Crew members aboard the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196) pull in the phone and distance line while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, Feb. 17, 2014. The line was used to establish communications with watch standers on the guided missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) and to show the distance of lateral separation between the two ships. The Cole was underway for its independent deployment certification exercise. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. j.g. Christopher Kaps/Released)
