An F/A-18C assigned to the "Stingers" of Strike Fighter Squadron 113 refuels with a U.S. Air Force KC-10 in southeastern Afghanistan during a mission supporting British troops in the Helmand province. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan and Carrier Air Wing 14 are providing support to coalition forces on the ground in Afghanistan. Coalition forces, composed of more than 52,000 personnel from 40 countries, are providing assistance to the government of Afghanistan, as part of International Security Assistance Force and working to defeat violent extremists who operate there. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed to the 5th Fleet/NAVCENT area of responsibility. Operations in the NAVCENT area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
