Andrew Segarf, deputy director of USAID in Kyrgyzstan, looks on as two Kyrgyz workers help unload a pallet of bottled water in Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2008, from a flatbed truck of humanitarian aid provided by Manas Air Base. The aid was transferred from the Manas truck into a fleet of vehicles contracted by USAID to ship it to the affected regions. In response to the Oct. 5 earthquake in southern Kyrgyzstan, Airmen from Manas sent thousands of pounds of aid that included pallets of food rations, bottled water, surplus military cold weather gear and more than 120 boxes containing 3,000 pounds of adult and children's winter clothing, blankets and toys. A call for personal donations resulted in another 40 Airmen donating their own blankets they deployed here with.
