John Clarkson, a licensed professional engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Huntington District shows visitors at the East Fork Bridge, East Lynn, W.Va. some of the composite material used in the rehabilitation of the bridge. Advantages to using composites in repairs include lower costs for materials and construction as compared to more traditional methods involving steel and concrete, as well as more durability with less maintenance since the composite materials used in the bridge rehabilitation will not corrode.
