Brig. Gen. Robert F. Castellvi, the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations East – Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, stands with Jarret White, a police officer with the Provost Marshal’s Office, after awarding him with a Commendation for Meritorious Civilian Service aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, March 24. White was recognized for pulling a motorist out of a submerged vehicle on Wilmington Highway during a winter storm, on Jan. 28. By showing selflessness, quick-thinking and sound judgment, White, a Marine Corps veteran, showcased the traits Marines have used on the battlefield for more than 200 years, said Castellvi. “When you saw danger you jumped in, you saved somebody’s life and you made our Corps proud and our community proud,” said Castellvi.
