An Iraqi shurta (policeman) establishes a security overwatch position for other IP searching vehicles at a nearby Baghdad checkpoint Oct. 9, 2008. Baghdad is in the process of transitioning all of its checkpoints into IP control in many Muhallas. The goal of the transition is to have the IP become the primary security force for the citizens of Baghdad.
