U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Chad Lewis, a loadmaster instructor with the 37th Airlift Squadron, prepares to release a weather reconnaissance device during an aviation detachment rotation at Powidz Air Base, Poland, April 1, 2014. The device, called a dropsonde, provided real-time, accurate wind data to air personnel. In October 2012, the U.S. Air Force established the first permanent U.S. military presence in Poland.
