U.S. Marines and sailors provide pier security during exercise Ssang Yong 2014 at Pier 9 in Pohang, Republic of Korea April 3. Ssang Yong demonstrates the ROK-U.S. Navy and Marine Corps’ responsive amphibious and expeditionary capabilities from the sea. Forward-deployed and forward-based U.S. Marine forces, in conjunction with U.S. allies, have the unique ability to provide rapid force deployment for the full range of military operations, specifically in the Pacific region.
