Senior drill instructor Sgt. Dwayne Martin-Farley lists reasons why Rct. Nelson Roberts, Platoon 3044, India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, will participate in an incentive training session March 25, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Martin-Farley, 27, from Apopka, Fla., reminded Roberts, 19, from Greenville, Ohio, of the importance of attention to detail and the need for instant and willing obedience to orders. Incentive training sessions consist of physical exercises administered in a controlled and deliberate manner and is used to correct minor disciplinary infractions. India Company is scheduled to graduate June 13, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
