Sailors speak with representatives of Alcoholics Anonymous during a break at the Substance Abuse Recovery Program (SARP) symposium held on the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth compound April 9. The symposium, sponsored by U.S. Fleet Forces and Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, gave Alcohol and Drug Control officers (ADCO) and Drug and Alcohol Program advisers (DAPA) an in-depth look at the treatment program SARP offers to referred patients with substance abuse problems. Subject matter experts also offered advice on how to streamline their command programs so that Sailors could get the assistance they need in a timely manner.
