A pilot with the 108th Air Refueling Squadron wears a shoulder patch showing the heritage of the unit during an aerial refueling mission, April 16, 2014. The 108 ARS is an Illinois Air National Guard unit, assigned to the 126th Air Reufeling Wing, that spent over 70 years in Chicago before being relocated to Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The patch hightlights the National Guard heritiage by displaying the Mintueman statue and its Chicago era by showing the city of Chicago flag. The 126 ARW, an Illinois Air National Guard unit stationed at Scott Air Force Base, supports USSTRATCOM's global strike and strategic deterrence missions through aerial refueling with the KC-135R Stratotanker to deter regional and strategic threats from adversaries with ground warfare capabilities.
