Maj. Gen. Scott Black (center), the judge advocate general of the Army, takes a moment for a photo with Soldiers and leaders of the Staff Judge Advocate section, 4th Infantry Division and Multi-National Division – Baghdad, following the Gilmore Gallop on Camp Victory Nov. 7. The run was the first of what will be an annual event held in memory of Army JAG Corps fallen heroes: Command Sgt. Maj. Cornell Gilmore, Chief Warrant Officer Sharon Swartworth, Maj. Michael Martinez, Sgt. Michael Merila, Cpl. Coty Phelps and Cpl. Sascha Struble, who were lost during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Black, along with Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Glaze and Chief Warrant Officer Richard Johnson, the senior non-commissioned officer and senior warrant officer of the JAG Corps, came to Baghdad as part of the annual Article 6 visit in which the Army JAG commander visits Soldiers and leaders of the Army JAG Corps wherever they are serving.
