Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, prepare to test fire their M777A2 howitzers for the first time since trading in their M109A6 paladins during operator new equipment training April 16, 2014. “The switch from the M109A6 paladin to the M777A2 howitzer gives Soldiers the opportunity to train on a different weapon platform, perform air assault operations, shoot degraded operations,” said Sgt. 1st Class Scott Thrasher, platoon sergeant, A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th FA Regiment, 1st SBCT, 4th Infantry Division.
