Soldiers of the 261st Signal Brigade, from Delaware, try to find cover and concealment from incoming fire while navigating a Individual Movement Techniques lane on Camp McGregor, N.M. Individual Movement Techniques are the most basic tactics that are employed at the individual level. These techniques include the high and low crawl, and short rushes (3-5 seconds) from one covered position to another. This stimulus-response training, conducted by 5th Armored Brigade, allows coordinated, automatic responses without the need for direct orders and allows leaders to assess the situation while Soldiers react appropriately. The 261st Signal Brigade's mission is to maintain, and operate a system control cell to monitor network health, track, control, engineer, and source all tactical telecommunications service requests. While coordinating with coalition forces, the 261st Signal Brigade ensures all units in theater have appropriate and necessary tactical voice and data signal support. They participated in IMT training and other high intensity training conducted by 5th AR Brigade to prepare for deployment to go over to Iraq. 5th Armored Brigade, First Army, Division West Soldiers are recognized as expert trainers at all levels of the Army. The training conducted is tough, repetitive, hands-on, realistic and theater-specific. It produces leaders and Soldiers who are confident, competent and disciplined in their skills, knowledge and abilities. Since 2003 they have trained over 70,000 National Guard and Reserve Soldiers deploying around the world in support of this Global War on Terrorism.
