Philippine Navy Capt. Ramon Renales, left, and U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Theophile Azongho talk after a fiesta lunch, May 1 during Exercise Balikatan in Legazpi City, Albay Province, Philippines. The lunch was one of several community relations events held during Balikatan to bring together members of the community, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and U.S. armed forces to allow all three to share their culture and get to know each other on a personal level. This year marks the 30th iteration of the exercise, which is an annual bilateral Philippines-U.S. military training exercise and humanitarian civic assistance engagement that increases interoperability and strengthens the bond between the longstanding allies. Renales is the commanding officer of the AFP, Joint Civil Military Operations Task Force, and Azongho is a civil affairs team member with the civil affairs detachment, G3, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
