First Lt. Ashley Jenkins, an ordnance officer assigned to the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, is promoted to captain May 2, 2014, at the Bulldog Memorial. Jenkins, daughter of Elizabethtown, Ky., residents John and Barbara Jenkins, describes the pride she derives from her service. It's not necessarily being a captain or an officer, she said, its being a Soldier I really appreciate. I think it should be an American tradition. I really strive to be a benefit to my family, my country and my people.
