Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class (FMF) Joseph Williams secures an injured Sailor to a gurney aboard an MV-22B Osprey with VMM-162 on the flight deck of USS Nassau (LHA 4). The Sailor was medically evacuated to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for treatment of a broken ankle. "Our job is very important," said Williams, a Jacksonville, N.C., native. "If anyone gets hurt aboard ship, we have to get them to the next echelon of care as soon as possible." Nassau is deployed as part of the Nassau Amphibious Ready Group/24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (NAS ARG/24 MEU) in support of Maritime Security Operations (MSO) and Theater Security Operations (TSC) efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. The NAS ARG/24 MEU is comprised of embarked Marines from the 24 MEU, the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau (LHA 4), the amphibious transport dock USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48).
