Sgt. John Parker, Staff Sgt. Matthew Eubank, Staff Sgt. Marcus Seymour, Sgt. Everett House and Sgt. Maynard Parrish of the Georgia Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Detachment get a brief moment to shake hands with Medal of Honor recipient retired Col. Leo Thorsness. These soldiers were among the select crowd that attended the Arthur Blank Foundation's speaker series breakfast, which featured a fireside-style discussion with Thorsness. The crowd included many representatives of the Georgia education system. The up-and-coming Medal of Honor Character Development curriculum is being adopted in many schools in the state of Georgia. Georgia has swiftly adopted this curriculum in many counties, as a result of other current and former Georgia Guardsmen, who were also educators, advocating for the program. The Georgia National Guard education office has also participated heavily in efforts to see this character development program find its way into Georgia middle and high schools. Counselors and teachers from the crowd spoke highly of the curriculum and its effects on their students since its 2012 inception.
