Iraqi Lt. Ahmed, a soldier of the 2nd Battalion, 25th Brigade, 17th Iraqi Army Division, explains the compliance patrol on Nov. 26 to a resident of Al Murtada in the Mahmudiyah Qada, south of Baghdad. The Iraqi army uses compliance patrols to hold residents accountable for the safety and sanitation of their neighborhoods. Each household is asked to sign a form stating that they will keep their walls clean of graffiti and will report any suspicious behavior to an Iraqi army soldier.
