Spc. Timothy Proot of Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 40th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, helps Col. Pat White, commander of the 2nd BCT, carve the first slice of turkey during the Thanksgiving meal on Forward Operating Base Hammer. Proot, a native of Fenton, Mo., was excited to carve the turkey with his brigade commander. "The only other time I was close to anyone important, I was at a Mass the pope gave Mass in a stadium. This was really cool for me."
