Philippine Army 2nd Lt. Mechelle Ann Burgos, assistant civil affairs officer and commanding officer of 1st Civil Military Operations Company, 7th CMO Battalion, provides food to children of the Aeta group during “Bayanihan” as part of exercise Balikatan 2014, near Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Palayan City, Philippines, May 8. Bayanihan, meaning "communal spirit" in Filipino, is comprised of food and festivities provided by the Nueva Ecija Cardinals Lion’s Club to the local Aeta families with the support of Philippine and U.S. Army soldiers. The exercise is an annual bilateral training exercise between the Philippines and U.S. designed to foster cooperation and interoperability between the two nations’ armed forces through training as well as humanitarian aid and disaster relief projects.
