Rct. Brittney Lindmeier, Platoon 4016, November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, pulls herself over a wall during a combat training course April 29, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Lindmeier, a 19-year-old from Mountain Rest, S.C., and her fellow recruits spent a week at the island’s combat training area for Basic Warrior Training, during which they learned common Marine Corps combat- and field-related skills. November Company is scheduled to graduate May 23, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
