U.S. Marines with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 462, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) prepare to take off from Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, San Diego, Calif. aboard a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter during training Exercise Desert Scimitar (DS-14) on May 12, 2014. DS-14 is a large-scale combined arms, live-fire exercise integrating ground troops from 1st Marine Division, aviation and logistical support from 3rd MAW and 1st Marine Logistics Group to ensure that our nation is fully prepared for employment as a maneuver force across the range of military operations.
