A Philippine soldier with the 7th Infantry Division and a U.S. soldier with the 25th Infantry Division place a wreath at the base of the Pangatian War Memorial in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, May 10 during exercise Balikatan 2014. The ceremony honored Philippine and U.S. soldiers interred at the Cabanatuan Prison Camp, some of whom were liberated by Philippine guerrillas and the U.S. Army’s 6th Ranger Battalion during a raid Jan. 30, 1945. Balikatan is an annual bilateral training exercise between the Philippines and U.S. designed to foster cooperation and interoperability between the two nations’ armed forces through training as well as humanitarian aid and disaster relief projects.
