U.S. Army Maj. Kate Flocke and a local healthcare worker provide health physicals to local children May 10 during a cooperative health engagement in Tacloban, Philippines. The CHE provided additional medical relief and assistance to an area devastated by Typhoon Yolanda on November 8, 2013 as a part of Exercise Balikatan, an annual bilateral humanitarian civic assistance and training exercise between the Philippines and U.S. that strengthens the bond and interoperability between the two allied nations. More than 390 community members received medical treatment and health classes during the engagement. Flocke is the Joint Civil Military Operations Task Force battalion surgeon with 97th Civil Affairs Battalion.
