The amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LPD 48) cruises out of the final stretch of the Suez Canal into the Red Sea. Ashland is part of the Nassau Amphibious Ready Group and 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, currently supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
