Lt. Cmdr. James Jenks from Coast Guard Air Station Sitka sits in the right seat of the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter in flight from Sitka to Juneau, Alaska, Sept. 30, 2013. This training mission was, in part, a familiarization flight for pilot Lt. Matthew Herring who is new to the region. Crews conduct FAM flights to assure that pilots and crew are ready to navigate the challenging terrain when necessary in difficult weather conditions and low visibility extremes during search and rescue and medevac operations.
