U.S. Army Sgt. Joseph Ramsey, left, and Australian Army Capt. Kendall Crocker vaccinate a local resident’s dog May 12 during a cooperative health engagement in Calbayog City, Rawis province, Philippines. The CHE was conducted by members of the AFP, Australian Army and U.S. service members to provide medical assistance to both local residents and animals as a part of Exercise Balikatan. This year marks the 30th iteration of the exercise, which is an annual bilateral training exercise and humanitarian civic assistance engagement designed to strengthen the partnership between the two allied nations. Ramsey is an animal care sergeant with Public Health Command District Japan and Crocker is a veterinarian for military working dogs at the school of military engineering in Moorebank, Australia.
