Smith, 24, from Plainfield, Ill., communications operator with 1st Platoon, Transportation Support Company, Combat Logistics Company 19, 1st Marine Logistics Group, communicates with the rest of the vehicles during a resupply convoy, Dec. 2. Smith and the rest of the Marines of 1st Platoon are switching over with 3rd Platoon who has been at Sahl Sinjar for a month. 1st Platoon is continuing to provide logistical support to the units who are securing the border between Iraq and Syria.
