A B-52H Stratofortress from the 307th Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La., receives fuel from a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., May 15, 2014. The KC-135 was originally designed to refuel bombers such as the B-52 in the late 1950s, but has since expanded its role to refuel various Department of Defense and allied aircraft.
