Ray Geller shows Marines the location on a target to place their shot May 16 in the Central Training Area as part of a two-week Headquarters Marine Corps Special Reaction Team Phase II Marksman/Observer course. The course concluded with a one-shot, cold-bore marksmanship qualification in which the students fired an M110 semi-automatic sniper system. The culminating event was a pass-or-fail qualification with no second chance and no practice rounds. Geller is an advanced training group instructor with the Marine Corps Police Academy, Marine Corps Installation Law Enforcement, Security Division, Headquarters Marine Corps. The course brought together Marines with various units across multiple military occupational specialties assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
