Airman 1st Class Andrea Villegas, a firefighter with the 180th Fighter Wing, looks on as fellow firefighters respond to a hazardous material incident during an Operational Readiness Exercise in Swanton, Ohio, May 20, 2014. Operational Readiness Exercises are simulated scenarios that allow Airmen from the 180th Fighter Wing to train for situations they may face in a real-world environment. The 180th Fighter Wing Fire and Emergency Services Flight provide 24-hour joint emergency response for the Toledo Express Airport alongside the Lucas County Port Authority Public Safety Department. These relationships establish multiple layers and mutually reinforcing structures throughout the state in response to requests for assistance from civil authorities for domestic emergencies, law enforcement support, and other domestic activities.
