Major Gen. Richard P. Formica, Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan commander, bids farewell to the outgoing 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, and welcomes the 33rd IBCT, Illinois Army National Guard, to Afghanistan. The 33rd IBCT is replacing the 27th IBCT as the Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix command. With a long and challenging year ahead, Formica says he has the utmost confidence the 33rd IBCT can fill their predecessors' shoes.
