Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Naphtali Odongo, assigned to U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) Yokosuka, Preventive Medicine Department, sprays uniforms with permethrin, an insecticide effective against multiple species of crawling and flying insects. The uniforms were sprayed in preparation for this year’s Pacific Partnership. Pacific Partnership is in its ninth iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission in the Asia-Pacific region. According to the U.S. Navy Surgeon General, Vice Adm. Matthew Nathan, this year’s mission is unique as the United States will be partnering with Australia and New Zealand aboard Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force tank landing ship JDS Kunisaki (LST-4003) to provide health assistance, subject matter expertise exchanges and other related activities.
