Col. Ronald Kapral, the commander of the 81st Brigade Combat Team, and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Sweeney, the command sergeant major of the 81st BCT, case the brigade colors during a ceremony on Oct. 1 on Fort McCoy Wis. The brigade colors are cased to signify the departure of the 81st BCT from U.S. soil. They were uncased Nov. 5 in Ramadi, Iraq after all the 81st BCT units safely arrived in Iraq. The Washington Army National Guard's 81st BCT trained at Fort McCoy for approximately six weeks before deploying to various bases across Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
