Col. Pat White, commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, takes a knee to have his picture taken with the air crew that ferried him and Santa to different patrol bases and combat outposts on Christmas day. Santa and his elf were played by Capt. James Thomas and Warrant Officer Mark Deboe, members of Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 2nd BCT, 1st Armd. Div., MND-B. White is a native of Apple Valley, Calif., while Thomas and Deboe are from Oskaloosa, Kan., and Harlem, N.Y.
