A sailor aboard the USS Makin Island guides an MV-22B Osprey with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, onto the flight deck of the USS Makin Island during Certification Exercise (CERTEX) off the coast of Southern California, June 11, 2014. The 11th MEU and Amphibious Squadron 5 team conduct CERTEX to hone mission-essential tasks, execute specified MEU and Amphibious Ready Group operations, and certify the foundation of a cohesive warfighting team for exercises and operations they may encounter in their upcoming deployment.
