U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry meets with attendees at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, June 6, 2014, before a ceremony commemorating the memory of the Soldiers who gave their lives 70 years ago fighting to end the Nazi occupation of Europe. During the ceremony U.S. President Barack Obama and French President Fran?ois Hollande spoke to more than 10,000 attendees, including approximately 400 World War II veterans. The morning of June 6, 1944, Allied forces conducted a massive airborne assault and amphibious landing in the Normandy region of France.
