Sgt. 1st Class Piahnki Sankofa stands at the ready to receive the Georgia Commendation Medal by Joint Chief of Staff Col. Bruce Chick. Sankofi and two other Georgia Department of Defense Soldiers were honored during an intimate ceremony for their work and dedication to the citizens of the state Tuesday morning at the Clay National Guard Center in Marietta. Planning, executing and managing were integral in organizing placement of assets during the Winter Storms that plagued Georgia in 2014 and the diligence of these Warriors was not unnoticed "Without the work behind the scenes, the citizens of Georgia would not have had the resources that potentially saved countless lives," Chick who also acts as liaison for public safety during emergencies said prefacing the ceremony.
