Spc. Joaquin Jucaban, a human resource specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, enters information into a computer during the duty day, Jan. 6, at Forward Operating Base Falcon in southern Baghdad's Rashid District. He processes identification cards for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, while serving a combat deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jucaban, a native of Iloilo, Panay, in the Republic of the Philippines, serves in the 1st "Raider" Brigade's personnel section. He served in the Philippine National Police Special Actions Force, an elite counter-terrorism/counter-insurgency unit, before joining the U.S. Army in 2006. Jucaban holds two degrees: a nursing degree and a public safety degree, and was recently selected to attend the U.S. Army's Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga.
