Bernard Moos (left) addresses a group of environmental professionals and managers from various training and ecological departments in the U.S. Army, while explaining about a few of the endangered birds that live in the area. The environmental division of the Grafenwoehr Training Area protects the soil, air and water of the land while supporting the Army’s training mission. Thirty-three years ago, the U.S. Army started monitoring the conditions of their training areas in Europe. Today, 77 percent of these training lands are designated flora and fauna habitat.
