Mongolian children ride their horses before completing a 22-km race during a mini-Naadam festival June 27 at Five Hills Training Area, Tov province, Mongolia, during Exercise Khaan Quest 2014. Naadam is a traditional Mongolian festival held from July 11-13 each summer. It consists of Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery. As a show of hospitality to guests, Mongolians often host a mini version of this festival. KQ14 is a regularly scheduled, multinational exercise hosted annually by Mongolian Armed Forces and co-sponsored this year by U.S. Army, Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. KQ14 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises designed to promote regional peace and security. This year marks the 12th iteration of this training event. In addition to Mongolia, military personnel from Australia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, Poland, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Tajikistan, the United Kingdom and the United States are participating or observing.
