Platoon 4022, November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, march on the main parade deck during their final drill evaluation June 25, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The recruits spent the previous 10 weeks learning not only close-order drill but also how to function as a cohesive unit. The evaluation was their chance to put their harmonious movements on display for drillmasters, experts on the Marine Corps Drill and Ceremonies Manual, who graded their performance. November Company is scheduled to graduate July 3, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
