Mongolian Armed Forces set up a small camp to live at for a few days during a nine-day survival course June 27 at Five Hills Training Area, Mongolia, during Exercise Khaan Quest 2014. Mongolian Armed Forces service members, U.S. Marines, and soldiers led a platoon of MAF through the hilly, wide-open terrain for 9 days during a survival course. The service members lived off of what they found out in the field. KQ14 is a regularly scheduled, multinational exercise hosted annually by Mongolian Armed Forces and co-sponsored this year by U.S. Army, Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. KQ14 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises designed to promote regional peace and security. This year marks the 12th iteration of this training event. The U.S. Marines are with III Marine Expeditionary Force, and the U.S. soldiers are with the Alaska Army National Guard.
