Iowa National Guard Soldiers form up as they await their turn to board a bus bound for Washington, D.C., Iowa has activated approximately 1,000 Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, and Airmen from the 185th Air Refueling Wing and 132nd Fighter Wing, Iowa Air National Guard, to help assist local, state and federal officials during the 56th presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. While in the nation's capitol, these Iowa National Guard Soldiers will assist with transportation and attendee management, traffic control, event ingress/egress and personnel support. It is anticipated that these Soldiers and Airmen will serve in support of the inauguration for approximately 10 days, which includes personnel readiness processing, training and travel. Approximately 10,000 National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from at least 11 states will support the inauguration.
