An Iowa National Guard Soldier carries his battalion guidon as he boards a C-130 aircraft from the 139th Airlift Wing, Missouri National Guard at the Des Moines Airbase. Iowa has activated approximately 1,000 Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa Army National Guard, and Airmen from the 185th Air Refueling Wing and 132nd Fighter Wing, Iowa Air National Guard, to help assist local, state and federal officials during the 56th presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. While in the nation's capitol, these Iowa National Guard Soldiers will assist with transportation and attendee management, traffic control, event ingress/egress and personnel support.
