Rct. Brogan MacMillan, Platoon 2078, Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, practices a bayonet technique during martial arts training July 17, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. Bayonet techniques are taught to recruits in case a battle takes place in close combat. The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program contributes to the physical, mental and character development of Marines and indoctrinates recruits into the warrior mindset of the Marine Corps.
