The Camp Kinser dragon boat team rounds the final turn during their race July 20 in Urasoe City, Okinawa. The series of races featured 80 teams and was one of many activities during a three-day annual festival called “Tedako Matsuri.” The event is named in honor of Urasoe’s first king, Eiso, who was believed to be the “tedako,” which means “child of the sun” in the Okinawan dialect.
