The Ursino Castle, located in the heart of downtown Catania, Italy, was built in the 13th century as one of the royal castles of Emperor Fredrick II, king of Sicily. The castle was considered unconquerable and therefore had an important military role, however over time it lost its military role and became a prison. Due to a lack of funding, this beautiful piece of history hasn’t received the care and attention to detail it deserves, but on July 24, 2014 a detachment of Marines and Sailors with the second iteration of SP-MAGTF Africa 14 showed up and gave it their all.
