The 101st Army Band, led by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Russell Massey, the conductor and commander of the 101st Army Band, presents "Citizen Soldier," a musical and dramatic concert experience celebrating military service May 25, 2014, in honor of Memorial Day. The 101st Army Band is a component of the Colorado Army National Guard and have acted as musical ambassadors for the state of Colorado and the United States Army since it was federally recognized Sept. 18, 1937, as the band section of Service Battery of the 168th Field Artillery in Denver. Standing as a separate entity in the 21st century, the band is comprised of approximately 50 citizen-soldiers. Within the band is individual musical performance teams including the Centennial Wind Ensemble, Mile High 101 Rock Band, 101st Army Dixieland Band, Open Range Country Band and Marching Band.
